I have a XP desktop attached to a W2K AD network. I can't seem to change the power settings, ie: hybernation, standbye, etc. Even if I change them logged in as administrator and turn off standbye, it still goes into standbye. Is there a security policy on the server that overides the workstations settings?

There could be policy setup. Open Active Directory and right click on the OU where that computer is connected to. Go to Property and Group Policy and check at the settings on the policies shown. If there are none, then it may be the case that at one time some one setup a policy and then deleted it and selected not to change the affected computers. If that is the case, then you will have to create a new policy that will allow for the change to happen so it overwrites the previous setup.

Thanks for the help. Do you know what it would be under in group policy settings? I haven't been able to find anything that relates to power schemes, options, etc. I'm sure under something in there.

Thanks again.
