Has anyone used protection on their analog/DS lines and if so what have you used?

I am looking at a customer who keeps killing thier Phone30 modules. They have both analog and DS ports leaving the building on airial cable but it seems only the analog is being clobbered. The ground and power has been checked

This is one of the reasons why I bought IPOffice. We kept having lightning problems for years. Now, it's all fiber with IP phones at remotes sights and I have no issues.

I wish I could recommend dropping fiber to all the customers sheds (with one phone) or timber processing areas (with two or three), but thats not in the funds for this plant. I just spoke to our support contact and they mentioned IROB's supplied by Avaya which are re-branded ITWLinxs units.

Avaya makes something specifically for the IPO analog port called the barrier box. If you have the toolbox CD you can read up on it. They're a little expensive, about $80 a port.

From my experience don't use anything on the DS ports. It causes ports to lock up, only a module upgrade fixing the problem.

Lightning strikes didn't seem to hurt the DS gear but killed the analogue ports and modules
