Exchange 5.5 on Windows NT 4

Can someone explain postmaster?

It is my understanding that a default postmaster@mydomian.com is created when Exchange is installed. My problem is I didn't install Exchange so don't know where it was placed.

When I try to add a public folder and give it the postmaster@mydomian.com address I am told by Exchange that this address already exists.

I know people are probably sending mail to this address that I should read. In fact, I sent a message to the address and it didn't bounce so it has to be going somewhere.

Please tell me where I can find this mailbox/folder/address.

Thank you

Postmaster is not installed by default with exchange 5.5. If you want to find out what account has that SMTP address, change the column view in exchange admin to include SMTP address listings and then sort by that column. It's likely, but not absolute, that administrator has the address...
