Spec= AMD-K6-2-500AFX, 64meg DIM, Jetway J-542C, Motherboard. Bios Award Modular v4.51PG. v.542CS D06 10-25-2000.

I am putting together a system based on above spec, with an AGP display adaptor, on boot up I get a POST error beep, one long three short, and no display.

I tried a different known working AGP card, same result, I tried a PCI display card and everything worked fine.

My conclusion: the AGP port don't work, but am I correct, is there something I am missing, could there be any other reason the AGP cards don't work?

Any advice appreciated.

Regards, TopHat2.

Put the PCI card in and check the BIOS. Also ensure the AGP card is FULLY inserted. Some times the back o fthe card will sometimes come up a bit and that can cause problems. Especially on cheaper cases. When you secure the front of the card with the screw the back of it comes up out of the slot a bit. Just enough.

Thanks for the response. What am I checking the BIOS for?

Anything that states to boot initially from PCI aor AGP. If it states from PCI change it to AGP. That sometimes works, But it should have booted from the AGP to begin with. James Collins

It worked! I chainged "Init Diwsplay First :pCI Slot" in "Intergrated Periferals" to "...:AGP" and it works.

But how is someone who dosen't have a spair PCI display adaptor suposed to get into the BIOS to chainge it? Surley this is maddness on the part of the people who designed a bios flash for an AGP mobo and set the default display to PCI.

Thanks again for your help.
