I am trying to reinstall realtek audio on Vista Home Premium system (2 gb).
Before following instructions to remove sound device from device manager the listed devices were Realtek HD Audio and Unimodem half duplex audio device. There was no sound, but the speakers were recognized.
After removing and rebooting audio devices listed (Windows) high definition audio device and Unimodem half duplex audio device.
I have downloaded realtek drivers (exe file) from site and installed, but still do not get system to recognize Realtek (on board audio).
I cannot find a way to manually install the audio hardware. Acer does not deliver a cd from which the system can be repaired - if this is even possible with Vista - only rolled back or reinstalled with the resulting data loss and loss of installed programs. I am hoping that it is possible to get back to at least recognition of the speakers if I can get Realtek recognized.
Any ideas?
