What I am trying to do is have the legend on one of the axis have two units. As an example, I would like to have both degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius on the same axis, or feet and meters along the other axis. I am basically a noob when it comes to excel, but I am hoping that there is an easy way to set this up.

Hi there!

I'm a little confused. Do you want a double unit axis or a legend that shows two things? As far as I know,

Can you clarify?

Follow on to previous post (sorry)! As far as I know, you can not have one axis represent two different things unless the units of measure are the same size. Fahrenheit and Celsius are not the same size unit, so they can not be represented on the same axis. You can; however, have a two vertical axis chart with Fahrenheit on the right and Celsius on the left (or vice versa). Take a look at Custom Charts>Lines on 2 Axis.

Hope this helps.

No, I meant the one you said I could not do. I want to have both F and C on the left hand side with 2 sets of demarcation. I would like to make alot of my data "international".

I use lines on 2 axis already, I have deg. F, on left, feet on bottom, and PSI on the right. I want to have deg. F and deg. C on left, feet and meters on bottom, and psi and milibars on the right. This way my stuff is understood in USA and europe...

Guess I will have to do this in photoshop...

Well, you could do it with a picture of your chart right in Excel; however, if your data changes, your picture will not update because you can't link a chart picture.

Here's how:
1. Hold down your shift key.
2. Click Edit>Copy Picture.
3. Select a cell below your chart.
4. Leave your shift key held down...
5. Click Edit>Paste Picture.
6. You may now crop as needed like any other picture and incorporate it on top of your other chart.

Note: the picture will not update if your data changes!

Also, you may have to consider making your chart area fill and background fill transparent and turn off your sheet gridlines so that the new "Axis" will not overlay your data.

Hope this helps.

MillMaster,
Quick question for you. Do you do this a lot?

If so you might look at using a macro. I recently did a project that was a custom graphing engine for Excel (that's my fancy way of saying I took a canned graph and then used macros to draw a couple hundred extra shapes on it) and would be more than willing to share the wealth if your comfortable doing some macro work and want to automate this process.

Let me know,
CMP
