Is there a chance that two cd/dvd emulator programs under windows xp don't get along with each other?

Also some new games for instance Doom 3 will not install or run properly if it feels you have cd emulator software installed as part of its copy protection.

I have had 2 emulator software work ok on my box so it should be possible to have more than one installed. But as gpalmer711 points out is there any perticular reason that you need to have two installed?

Not really!butI already had daemon tools and on one occasion I had to mount the image files of Gabriel Knight 3.It had been suggested that I use Alcohol 52%.Well in the end things didn't turn out so well.I might try Paragon. Thanks guys anyway!!

The Alcohol series of emulated drives is a particulary tough one, as it adds a device driver. In addition, the uninstall does not remove the driver.

I have a Nero emulated drive, and two Daemon tool drives, and have never had an issue with them. They also add a device driver, but emulate SCSI devices.

I have found Daemon tool to be very good. Altho some of the older versions had some problems on my machine. So it might be worth making sure you are using the latest version.

The thing with Nero is that you can have only two drives,if I am not mistaken. The question is how many image files can you have mounted at the same time on one drive?cause with Daemon tools I could mount only one at a time(or perhaps I'm doing sth wrong).Any ideas?

The version of Daemon that I am using has the facility to emulate 4 drives. I'm currently on version 3.33, however they have release version 3.46 available from
To set the number of drives you have to do the following:

Right Click on the Daemon icon in the system tray > Select Virtual CD/DVD-Rom > Select Set Number of Drives > Select your required number.
