Restaurants purchase the license to use the software, they do not actually purchase the software. Obviously, there are certain items that the resellers do not want you, the end user to know, but in the end you should be able to manipulate it to your heart's content. There are some resellers out there that do not want you to purchase different hardware from someone else, but that is really up to the reseller's office. There are good and bad resellers out there for Aloha and Micros and just ask around to other restaurant owners to get their opinions. Remember, POS offices, do not have a breakfast, lunch, dinner rush and do not have money coming in every day and need to acquire revenue in other ways. While they should not try to gouge you on every purchase, they should be fair and the restaurant needs to understand how the reseller makes its money and maintains its bottom line....
