I am trying to set up a friends small business server but having some difficulties, could someone please help??

The package, server and adsl connection were set up by someone else and I was hoping not to have to re-install but..... I was asked to solve a problem they have with retrieving mail from a POP3 account and forwarding it on to exchange mailboxes.

I have setup the pop3 connector to access a mailbox on a linux box. I send a dummy message to the POP3 account and it's clearly seen in the eventlog as being downloaded by exchange. The problem seems to be forwarding on to a mailbox. As part of the setttings it is possible to send to a mailbox for example test1. When I log in as test1 through outlook there is nothing in the mailbox!!!

I was told it was previously working and nothing has changed ;-) so I haven't got into the client setup and stuff. Before I do that is there anywhere obvious I should be looking? Is there anyway of finding a physical representation of the email message on the server? Does it sound like a corruption of profiles??

Any Help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Is the mail actually being downloaded, if so you could turn logging on for pop and it should show you what is happening to the message.

Remember, not everything is what it seems.

POP3 messaging is definitely on and has the following message

There are 1 message(s) with a total of 833 byte(s)

A message was downloaded from the POP3 server. The message ID is: MSG06262002-210144-4.MMD

To me it looks as though the message has been downloaded but then not sent on. However we have put the message tracking on and it's not appearing in there. Firstly would you expect a POP3 message to appear in the tracker and if so why hasn't it in this case???

Starting to run out of options and looks like a re-install is necessary.

Can any one help ;-(
