Hi

my client changed from a SBS2003 srv to a windows 2003 standard server recently (various reasons), now they require exchange 2003 enterprise installed with POP3 mail collection, can this be done without buying any 3rd party add on for Exchange 2003 enterprise?

Is this function built into SBS2003?
as they have that software, may mean a server reinstall if it does?

thanks

This can be done but there is a trick to it.

The feature you are referring to the POP3 Connector is an SBS only feature. If you customer has used the upgrade pack which takes SBS and removes its restrictions on the number of users and the ability to break the applications off onto other servers, then they would retain the POP3 connector AND even retain the Remote Web Workplace.

If they just scrapped all of the SBS then there is no way for them to do this without purchasing a 3rd party solution.

If they have a static IP, they should just update MX records to point directly to the Exchange server instead of using POP.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
