I am having difficulty configuring my Soundstation2 to work with my Nortel system. According to Polycom I need to configure the phone as a m2616 which I have done. Now its stuck on initializing. I do not have a 2616 to hook up to it to ensure my configurations are working correctly, however I do have a 3903 hooked up to the interface module and it gets a dial tone.

Is there a programming guide that came with that polycomm? I never knew they made a nortel compatible one - interesting. I see you don't have any hunting configured - might not make a diff though? Also I am wondering if you need any special CLS enabled? flexible features perhaps? It might be that certain key arrangments have to be datafilled for in order for it to work. Got any 2616's you can copy to that particualr TN and play with? Good luck...

You know what?
I think you might need to program like this:
KEY 2 AO6
KEY 5 TRN

Polycom refers to "button" 3 AO6 and "button" 6 TRN but they are counting from 1 and not 0.

This is the compatibility according to Polycom

SoundStation2 Direct Connect is
compatible with any digital voice port
on NORTEL® Meridian®, Meridian
1 (option 11 to 81), SL-1, or SL-100
PBX with the exception of those supporting
MBS (CENTREX®) phone
sets. In addition to the basic product
functions, it supports two special functions
- Conference and Transfer - in
the same manner as the default M2616
Model 20, using key number position
3 for Conference and key number
position 6 for Transfer. Contact your
PBX Administrator to confirm that the
Conference and Transfer functions at
the port are assigned to these key number
positions.

Right. And if you were able to look at a "model 20" 2616 set you would likely see
KEY 2 AO6
KEY 5 TRN

Just try it.

I gave it a shot however I still am not getting a dial tone when the power is plugged in. You wouldn't happen to still have the soundstation do you? If so could you post the configurations of it so I can compare?

This was what I had programmed up for my customer a couple of years ago.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

how many models of the 2616 sets are there I wonder? I know there are at least 2 as I have cracked open a few and there are huge differences in the cards on some sets......(I sometimes replace the displays on them)

there are quite a few diff's on the CLS settings between yours and firebirds not to mention he has an SCPW set on it.....you may nul that out.......worth a try
