I purchased a new Polycom Soundstation 2 for our Nortel Norstar system. It's replacing a standard phone in of our conference room.

I was under the impression this should plug right in and work however there is no dial tone, etc. Is there some special setup that needs to be done?

If this is an analog phone, it most likely will not work on a digital extension, you would need to have either the correct soundstation version (if there is one), or some kind of digital to analog converter on the line you are using.

Polycom made a unit with the ATA built in but is was sold as a Nortel product.

Buy an ATA and you might need to program the extension for outgoing access.

I'm not super familiar with the system but it looks like a "ICS" unit with an add on M1Ixo.

MICS 0X32 KSU

You will need an external ATA
Norstar Analog Terminal Adapter, used older phone should do.

You can plug it in between the Polycom and the wall jack or have a tech do a proper install in the phone room for a neater job.
If using the tech have them put a duplex jack in board rm, leaving 1 digital and 1 new analog. In the case your Polycom breaks down you can go with the digital phone as a backup.
