I recently installed an AD w2k server. I messed around with policy settings and got myself in trouble. Heres what I get.

When creating a new user I get this error
"The password does not meet the minimum password length, complexity, and history requirements.

I checked all policies, Local, DC, and Domain and set them all back to 0 or not configured. I imported the out of the box setup inf file and still it won't let me create users.

Is there something i need to turn off that i am missing.

Thanks

Edit your default domain policy (or whatever else you were messing with) and navigate to:

Computer Configuration
----Windows Settings
--------Security Settings
------------Password Policy

Change the Policy for Passwords Must Meet Complexity Requirements to be Disabled if you don't want to enforce this rule.

I'd personally keep it enforced. You can still create users, you just need to specify a complex password such as Password1!.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for responding.

I tryed your suggested thoughts and things looked fine but did not take effect. So i did some more messing around and found that after I imported the default policy (going back in security) I had to stop and start the Workstation service. And restart. (that was the fix).

Took me about 5 hours to figure that one.

thanks again
