Hi, got a bit of a problem with some other business onjects users. They had the software installed (6.1a) about a week ago and have yet to use anything as they are having problems with there server.

So there gonna use the repository and I assume the bomain key on our server here, the problem is that when they installed the software they pointed it in the direction of there own repository and bomain key file....

Does anybody know how to change this so they are using the stuff on our server here??

I go through the safe recovery wizard, but it indicates that the bomain key is located on the hard drive of the local machine, without giving you the option to change it (it's greyed out)

If they are going to use full-client, you have to simply send them a BOMain.key that was created for your repository. You email it to them and they have to replace the ones they have with yours.

If you're keeping your .key file on a shared directory, then you have to reconfigure EACH desktop to read it's .key file from your location.

The problem is that the .key file is meant to be stored locally. I'm not sure how you went about changing it's location. You must have done it at install time. You likely can run the setup program again to change the location.

Hi Steve,

Just to clarify, if they go through admin setup as normal and install the bomain on there local hard drive. I just need to send them our bomain.key file, they replace there existing one and Bob's your uncle????

Thanks

Correct. Just remember to make sure they have middleware configured right.

They may get an error about .lsi files being wrong. Find and delete if you have to.

Tried sending the bomain key, but just couldn't get it to work... (Also trying to talk somebody through it on the phone doesn't help), so i'm gonna remotely re-install Business Objects on the other LAN's PC's...

Thanks for your help guys..
