We are looking to get a point to point from office a to office b with a T1 line. We have several spare cisco 1721 routers and wanted to see if we could use those to connect the two offices? I am not sure if we will be able to use a 1721 to terminate? Does anyone have any helpful information on configuring a PPP over ethernet between two offices?

Hello..

If you carrier provide you a T1 to make the point to point link between the two offices you need two serial interfaces one for each 1721.

If you don´t have the serial interfaces for the 1721, you need to change the T1 link to an ethernet link, (a lot of carriers provide this solutions).

I hope this help you.

Regards.

Rodolfo.

hello phusion36,

I'm in a similar postion. I have 2 1750's and conected threw a t1. I've been looking for a basic configuration. I can only find the more complcated config's. That use the pap chap authencation, isdn dail-up, multi-link. Which I can find instructions on those topic's, but my employer said they want just the basic config.

In school we set one up threw a dte-dce serial connection. Im wondering if I can set it up, the same way, with the 1dsuT1 connection. like setting the clockrate, and ip route?

Also does anyone know of any free tutorials on cisco?
