Does anyone know if the Cisco 3560 POE switch is compatable with the Symbol Access Point ?
I've enabled the inline power on the Cisco, but I'm not getting any power to the symbol unit.
Any ideas ?

The answer is no (most likely).

Power over ethernet just became a standard. As of right now, no one is shipping and IEEE compliant POE switch, but Cisco says the next generation 3550 will be both IEEE and Cisco POE compliant. Until everyone goes to the IEEE stanard, you cannot switch between vendors (usually that is).

It is what it is!!

Cisco is making and currently selling blades for their 4000/4500 and 6500 switches that support the new PoE standard.

Their 3750 fixed configuration switch also supports the PoE standard. I'm pretty sure the 3550-PWR only support Cisco APs and phones though.

Yea the 3550 PWRs was gonig to support it (just needed a software upgrade) then IEEE decided to change the standards again, making the 3550's inoperable for the future power standard.
