Hi all,

When opening this webpage
one gets a stockchart, now what i want to do is get that chart into excel(i'm a paying member of the site)

When i try a query on it, i'm not able to get this into excel since this is an image, which i understand, but when i save it, it saves under a .png file, which i can show when i insert it like a picture on file.

Is there a way i can retrieve this picture from the web??

With regards

btw, this forum is the best thing i found in my life, after my girlfriend that is!!!!!!

1st
Save the chart as a favorite in IE,...(I found the link by looking at the source html code from IE)

[m,a]daclyymy[pb50!b200][vc60][iub14!la12,26,9]&r=4203

then in your spreadsheet from the menu

insert>object> click the "create from file" tab.
then
select "link to file box"
then browse>favorites> ...select the http link (as stated above)

click insert...then OK

dang!!!!

this site is interpreting the brackets in the link

Well then look at the source code from your original post, then search for "chart05" then you can copy the link from there.

Hi ETID,

Thnx for your help, but i can't seem to get it working, those guys from stockcharts are really protecting their data.

But, as always i won't give up easily

Mike

ETID's approach works for me (I just imported the stock chart successfully). I suspect you get the URL not quite right.

Hi ETID and RobBroekhuis,

I did make another attempt, and all i get is a blank square with a number in there also containing the .PNG extension.

Could any of you mail me the correct link

excelxp@skynet.be

thnx for the help, both of you

Mike

Hi again,

Can't get this working, but i found another way that will work, however i have no clue why the way discribed by ETID doesn't work, since the difference is so smal.

I tried using insert picture and that does the trick, just wanted to lett you know this

Thnx again

Mike

But is it linked....that is automatically show the most recent graph?

Hi ETID,

There is no need for it really to be linked, since i remove the picture after vieuwing it, because i need the space for the next graph.
This means it will show the updated picture next time, since i retrieve it all over again from the webpage.

But like you said , for other uses it should be linked.

With regards

Mike

Gonna try that object one more time
