I'm exporting a PDF from Pagemaker 7.0 with the stock Press settings to be used by our print agency, which uses QuarkXpress 6.0.

The PDF comes up fine in Acrobat, but in Quark all the pictures are outlines filled with blue moire'd noise. It will only print the Cyan sep. The original is an all-CMYK document, all the images are grayscale TIFFs. Deadline is upon me. Any ideas?

Adslave,

If you like send me a couple problem pages, let me take a look at them. Never heard of that problem before. Now your sending PDFs created in Pagmamker and your Print Agnecy is then placing your PDFs into Quark 6 which then send their files to a printing company.

If you want me to take a look at them, send the files compressed as either a stuffit file or .zip and let me know what format they are Mac or PC.

It goes straight to a Varityper from their ver. of Quark, then to negative, then to web press (along with the rest of the paper =)).

We go to press in a few hours (urk!), but I may have a workaround -- doing the seps on PM7, saving to PS files, then running them through Distiller. Grayscale-only PDFs seem to import into Quark fine, but our print folks prefer a color composite to do their own seps in Quark. Picky.

I'll try to get the files to you.

Figured out the problem.

Under Distiller--> Job Options-->Color, Preserve Halftone Information needs to be checked, as well as Use Prologue.ps and Epilogue.ps under Advanced. Once I did this everything worked fine.

And I made deadline. Life is good...
