I keep on getting this error "Please remove the media from the drive." whenever I setup a back up job. If I remove the media then it asks for the media to be inserted. I am not sure why is this happening. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Marc

You have run out of room on the one tape and it needs a second tape to continue the job.

Thanks for the help. I tried using a brand new tape and the same error occured. Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks
Marc

What SQLBill is saying is that you need 2 tapes to backup so many files not just 1 new one.

Good luck,

How large are all of the files you are backing up? (Total size)

What is the size of your tape?

Which is larger?

-SQLBill

I am just trying to back up one file. Just to make sure it works before I setup a whole backup. The file I am trying to back for the test is 25 KB. The tape is a 20G tape. So I am not sure why this is happening.

Thanks for your help

What does the job history say? (right click on the job, select properties, then click on the job history tab).

-SQLBill

Erase or label the tape before using if - see how you go.

had the same problem,i adapted this on my NT server and our problems are over :

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Adamm\Alerts]
"Insert Media Response"=dword:00000001
"Remove Media Response"=dword:00000001
"Overwrite Media Timeout"=dword:00000005

Be carefull offcourse and trie this first on a test server iff possible.

The change in the registry cleared up the error.

Thanks for your help.
