I am running RH 9 & WinXP & Win2000 and setup samba with directories setup for both types of access, everyone and specific user. The open (everyone) one works great but the specific user keeps asking for a password. I know it is correct but tells me that it is wrong.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have used the gui that came with samba. Is this a command line operation or does the gui do this for you?

Thanks

Brandt

chomps 303, I assume that the gui that you're talking about is Swat. I haven't used this, but I suspect that it doesn't set up your samba users. Bluegroper has pointed you to how to do it without swat.

If you use SWAT, after you add the user, you then have to enable the user. Using:
smbpasswd -a username
will add the user and enable them in one command.
