Hi all,

This is my first post on this forum, and I will really appreciate any help from you friendly people here.

I am a newbei in C++/Unix programming area. I worked in Microsoft C++ for around 3 years and now want to switch to C++/Unix. But I know little about Unix, just few commands nothing much. My real interest in programming in C++ with Unix as OS. Can anybody please suggest me any beginner book which will help me to learn C++ on unix. Mainly I am interested in C++ and any database connectivity (preferably sybase) in Unix.

Thanks in advance

You can program normally ansi c++ in linux like you can in windows. If you want to program visually, you have to learn how to use the Xlibrary, and then I'd say use the great book: "XLib programming manuel" by Adrian Nye, there you'll have everything you need explained very well.
But for sysbase I can't help you any further as I don't know it myself... Greetz,
