Please help write a database countdown scripts

We are just short of about 5000 orders to complete our 1st 1 million order, and I asked to create a countdown script that should query a table and notify us immediately when the 1 millionth order is placed, there are order placements as we as cancellations, the table that need to be qurried contains only valid order not cancelled ones, I just need the logic that I should use to get the details of 1 millionth order as soon as its placed.

Any suggestions, ideas would be hightly appreciated.
