Hi. there is something very very wrong with my PC now. When I point the mouse over some text, the screen goes crazy...the size of the text constantly change from bigger to smaller. It’s almost like I'm at the discotheque.

Like when I’m in Internet Explorer, if the mouse is in the task bars, either up or down, all is fine, but the minute I move it to center screen… I get the big show…

same problem in Outlook Express. And in Word,it's all wrong the minute I open the program and it doesn't stop shaking

What do you think this could be? I tent to believe it’s a virus..

I rebooted the PC. It was fine for 15 minutes, than it started again…
.
I ran Norton antivirus, and spybot S&D, and according to them, all is fine, no virus, no spy

I changes my mouse, same problem

Can you please give me a few tips on how to fix this problem? I’m on my daughter’s PC now…I surely can’t use the PC like that…

should I try to log into a virus utility website?

Here is my setup:

Antec sonata2 , Antec 450 W PSU
-LanParty UT Nf4 Ultra-D
- Opteron 165 dualcore
-Crucial Ballistic PC3200 , 2x512 dual

Tanks for your time

Has anyone else been near your computer lately? There is a joke program called "CrazyMouse" that does this. If I remember right, hitting "Escape" interrupts the program. You should be able to use System Restore to before the problem began.

YES

everyone like the bigger newer pc..and limewire...

I don't think it's entirely mouse related, one reason for this is the minute I open Word, the screen goes crazy...

I will look at crazy mouse

thanks

Have you tried Safe Mode? Have you tried another user profile in Normal Mode?

You could try uninstalling the Mouse in Device Manager, rebooting, and allow Windows to rediscover the Mouse.

Ok. This morning after an hour of PC, everything is good. The PC in not on LSD anymore...I sure hope it won't come back..It might very well come back as I couldn't do anything to find/fix the problem.

System Restore didn't work...I tried every date available in there for restoring, but every time it failed. I could briefly see an error message with the word failed for a split second just before the PC turned itself off. I did turn off the firewall. Anyone knows why it failed?

Also yesterday when the PC was sick, I checked the temperature in the bios and it was all normal..

Regarding crazy mouse. I don't think it was my problem. In my case it was the screens that were going crazy, not the mouse..

I found this about Crazymouse joke:

"CrazyMouse joke" is neither a virus nor a trojan. It is a detection of the "program" type (under which non-malicious but sometimes unwanted objects are detected).
When run, this program will cause the mouse cursor to move around in various random, jittery motions. Then it will taunt the user with various joke dialog boxes.

so IMO, crazymouse wasn't my problem

Thank you all very much for your help
