Guys, I am trying to explain why we need the msvcr70.dll in the path of an VFP 7.0 EXE. Does this .Dll use some of the new technology that Microsoft and Uncle Bill are leaning towards? Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

Hi Arti

This is something to do with .NET and C# compiler. Specificaly, I have no idea why this is required for VFP.

I have heard that when we are not using the .NET, a copy of
MSVCRT.DLL as MSVCR70.DLL (and put in system32 directory), the problem is solved. I have not tried it though.

VFP 7 comes with it, and the installshield has that under ..
2)Specify Application Data ..
Objects/Merge Modules
MicrosoftVisual C++ 7 RunTime libraries (MSVCR70.msm)

If you include that in your project ditribution setup using the IntallShield, this gets distributed automaticaly.

Hope this helps you in some way :)
