My son's PC won't play MIDI files from websites.

Windows XP. Home Edition, I believe.

I just upgrade Internet Explorer to 7. It was 6 before. Didn't help.

The speakers are hooked up up, and work fine. The obvious stuff. Not muted.

I tested playing MIDI files from the hard drive. Worked fine.

The default player for MIDI files in Windows Media Player.

But when a website has a MIDI file that is automatically supposed to play, it doesn't.

It worked last year. My son likes to play Christmas music on his computer.

Any ideas?

Do you have a "Play sounds in Webpages" item in IE/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Settings/ Multimedia that needs ticking?
