I am starting to look at 2 features of voicemail pro, firslty TTS and secondly database interaction.

Does anybody know the differance between the Avaya TTS and the 3rd Party TTS software and which would you choose. Do you require the avaya TTS cd disk set. I am mainly aiming to hook into MS exchange.

Secondly has anybody used the database interaction?
 
The 3rd Party TTS is a higher quality engine with more language options. I have licenses for both, and I use the 3rd Party.

I have done plenty of database interaction using VM Pro as well, so far I have linked to Access, SQL Server and MySQL. Let me know if you have anything specific you are looking for. Good luck.

Melmac, wich third party TTS software do you mean?

Avaya TTS use the engine of ScanSoft wich is a high quality engine with support of SAPI.
See for some demo's or for more info on SAPI.

Database interaction is quite straight forward, Avaya adds some samples in the documentation cd.
 
I was referring to the Scansoft as the 3rd party, which technically is correct as far as I know.

The generic, which rickuk99 seems to be referring to here as the 'Avaya TTS', is the Microsoft TTS engine included with Windows. By adding the 'VmPro TTS (Generic)' license, you are able to use the Microsoft TTS from VM Pro. Since most of the people I speak with just refer to it as the Avaya TTS, I was just going with the flow. Sorry for any confusion.
 
So if I have voicemail pro and want to set it up so I can listen to emails, do I just need to get hold of the IP office 3rd party TTS license, or do I need any other software or licenses?
 
remember for TTS or IVR, VM Pro needs to be changed to Intuity mode...which can be annoying for some customers!
 
Rick - correct, for listening to emails you only need one or more TTS licences (either flavor but scansoft HIGHLY recommended, especially for email reading). To do IVR you need both the IVR and at least one TTS licence.

1 TTS licence = 1 person able to hear text to speech at a given moment in time. Similiar concept to VM ports.

Intuity mode is only a requirement for TTS Email reading.

TTS through Speak Text actions and IVR Database actions are supported in both Intuity and IP Office mailbox modes.
