I'm running IP500 4.1 with VMpro 4.1(42). I have several 800 numbers that all get routed to one hunt group. But now, we have a case where we'd like to play a different message to particular 800 number while they are in the queue and right before they can record a voicemail.

First thing I tried was setting a condition: True If $DDI is Equal to ### where ### is the 3 digit incoming call route set in the Manager 6.1(15). But when I tested it, it always came up false.

I then tried putting a variable routing action. That didn't work either.

So then I just tried to set a call route that would tell me the DDI just so I could see if I was just putting in the wrong number. But I never heard what the DDI was. (Though, I may not have set the call route correctly to have it read back to me.)

It seems to me that VMPro is not capturing the DDI number. Would there be any settings or license that would prevent me from capturing the DDI?

Say your DDI/DID range as sent your your system is 4-digits from 1000 to 1100. Name your wave files as Queue1000.wav through Queue1100.wav

Then in your Entry prompt for you queued actions use Queue$DDI.wav as the file to be played.

Obviously if you are receiving more or less digits you'll need to change that a bit but you get the idea.

why don't you create a new hunt group and use the announcements for that group?

I tried creating a queue860.wav and setting the entry prompt to queue$DDI.wav, but it didn't work.

Most of our reps make outbound calls and we alternate which ones take inbound calls. Since they aren't just always logged in, I'm trying to avoid having to make a new hunt group which would make them log into 2 different groups to get incoming calls.

Just point the incoming ddi to a module with a generic action and play the wav and transfer it to the group

That's actually how I have it set now. But what they want it to do is play the message right before the customer leaves a voice message.

Then you need to use the group method
It is not that bad to be logged in multiple groups

My employers won't be satisfied with a work around after I have already told them that it should work. Plus, just for my own curiosity and knowledge, I'd like to figure it out.

There has to be either something I setup wrong or something not working as I can't get the VMpro to capture the DDI. I have a Delta server running and it is capturing it. So I know I have the right number. It's just not sending the data to the VM server.

Why don't you just create a custome leave mail action for each group that includes the special greeting you want to play?

Your problem is your DDI variable - don't use the 3 digit entry that is in IPO, use what the provider sends in. We receive 4 from our providers here.

I'm wanting to play this message just before they leave a message and after they have been in the queue for the specified time.

-TheTaker
I didn't think about that because when I look at my Delta server logs it shows the same number I'm using in the call route. I'll have to contact our provider to find out the whole number. In the mean time, do you think it will work right if I use a wild card and then the number (*###)?

Yes, in variable routing you can have *and the last 3 digits, or 2, etc.

I'm telling you that your really making this harder than needed. If you want it to replace the standard greeting for the mailbox simply create a menu with actions of 0, 1 and timeout=1 then use the greeting$DDI.wav as the entry prompt. Follow that up with a voice question with a recording time of say 120 seconds and enter the mailbox entry in the "Send recording to mailbox".

This is the same as my HOWTO for enabling the 0-out option for a HG mailbox.

Not to argue here but your suggestion was the same as mine. The difference is you gave no information on how to do what you suggested. Additionally a customer Leave Mail action would still play the greeting recorded for the mailbox after playing the Entry Prompt which didn't sound like it was desired.

guys you are missing the point. JesusMC only has 1 group so neither option is viable.

Thank you Taker. That is correct. And I only have one mailbox as well.

Jesus*MC*

if thats the case he should do two groups like you said and use one login key for all groups.

I'm not looking for a work around. I already have something working now. It's just not set like I want.

I'm trying to make VMpro work correctly. The actions available in VMpro suggest that I should be able to make this work right.

The problem I see is that I'm either not typing in the correct DDI number or the DDI number is not being passed to the VM server.
