Hi,

I need to play a recorded message when a phone number is dialed. How do I configure Meridian 1 PBX to achieve this without forwarding this call to voice mail?
Many thanks.

Without mail, if you have a Miran, you can program the # as a an acd queue and NCFW to the Miran route you recorded/created.
The same can be said by using mail. Create a VSDN table, and again program an acd queue that NCFW to the VSDN.

You can also use an iteralia, or other Recorded anouncement device. What type of numbers are you talking about? If these are vacant numbers you can set it up in the CDB under INT, CTVN treatment.

Hi,
Thank you all very much on this.
The PBX is a brand new world to me. Please bear with me if I ask very silly questions.
For the issue here, my situation is: I have a DID number that will be taken down in the near future. However before taking it down, I want to play a message when this number is dialed. How do I configure Meridian 1 PBX to achieve this. Could you please tell me in detail, like instruction by instruction?
Many thanks.

what type of mail?

ncfw (voice mail answer dn)

ignore all other prompts. then in mail either add a mailbox or an announcement service to notify of the number change.. if you have a route for vacant numbers, ie a fixed box or miran (ran route) the number will follow vnr in the cdb after you out it, without any additional programing

Quick and Easy way...
1. Change the greeting on the DN to play the announcement you want the callers to hear. I'd also state in this greeting, "Stop this is an announcement, DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE in this mailbox".
2. On the phone itself, press the FORWARD key and forward all calls directly into vmail.

Using this method, when the position is ready to be used again, the DN & Mailbox is still setup.

The other way is to setup an Announcement.
This has to be done through Vmail Admin... a little steppy

If you decide to use the announcement method, I'll send you step-by-step instructions.

either way we need the mail type

Try These Steps...

Before You Get Started...
*** Print out the TN for the DN you're about to change.
*** Now OUT the TN and set the DN up as an ACD

STEP 1
LD 23 *** NOTE: Press Enter and just complete the lines I have listed***

REQ NEW
TYPE ACD
CUST 0
ACDN (EXTENSION THAT YOU JUST DELETED)
MAXP 1
NCFW (EXTENSION THAT YOU USE TO ACCESS VMAIL)

ACCEPT ALL OTHER DEFAULTS.. JUST PRESS ENTER UNTIL YOU RETURN TO THE REQ… PROMPT.

STEP 2
EXIT the PBX and GO INTO MERIDIAN MAIL

Enter 3 (VOICE ADMINISTRATION)
Enter 4 (VOICE SERVICE ADMINISTRATION)
Enter 1 (VOICE SERVICES-DN TABLE)
Press F2 (ADD)
Fill In The Blanks
Access DN: The ext that you are working w/
Service: Enter AS (Announcement Services)
When you enter AS, another line
appears.
Announcement ID: Enter the same Access DN #
Comment: Enter something to help you
identify this announcement in the
future.

Press F1 (SAVE)
Press F1 (EXIT)

Enter 3 (ANNOUNCEMENT DEFINITIONS)
Press F2 (ADD)
Fill In The Blanks
Announcement ID: Enter the same DN again.
Title: Enter a meaningful title
Revert DN: Leave Blank
Access Password: Leave Blank
UpDate Password: Use same DN or assign a
password that you can
remember

Press F1 (SAVE)
Press F1 (EXIT)

STEP 3
If you call the extension now, you’ll hear a recording that states, No Announcement has been recorded

Now you have to record your announcement

1. Dial the extension you use for PROMPT MAINTENANCE
2. System prompts, for VOICE SERVICE ID:
Enter the Ext. You Used
3. System prompts for PASSWORD:
Enter the password you setup
4. Press 5 To record your announcement and # when through
5. Hang Up.

That should be it.

Now test it by dialing the extension.

Hope this helps!
