Our department want's to look into the possibility of using
PL/SQL interfaces which load data to a temp table or flat file, and then use CRYSTAL to report on this data.
We would like this process to appear as if it were one
job (PL/SQL & CRYSTAL).
We believe that this will make us more capable of producing complex report data, and will collect the data more efficiently.
What is avialable in the area of tools, techniques and
training to make this happen for us as a standard way of generating reports?

One option is to control the whole process from Oracle.
You would need to use a software tool that allows you to trigger processing of a Crystal report via a RUN command line (or a schedule). By sheer coincidence, my Visual CUT software provides this functionality...)

Another option is to control the processing from Crystal using the approach outlined in:
or use the extra control provided via "Commands" as data sources in Crystal 9.

Cheers,
- Ido CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
