Help!!
I have a laptop that receives IP via DHCP. I can ping other PC's, servers, & routers on the network. nothing on the network can ping me. If ping -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx resolves an IP address but the ping fails. Also when you browse network neighborhood my PC is visible, but if you double click you get "pc is not accessible" "path not found". I have nortons Personal firewall installed wand have ginen the entire class C permisssion. I have even disabled the firewall. The problem still exist.
Anyone have any ideas?

Is xp's built-in firewall active. Right click on your network connection and check the advanced tab.

No I am not using xp's builtin firewall.

Do you have the same OS than the other computers ?
Do you have any other network protocols (i.e. IPX) ?

Can you ping 127.0.0.1 ?
Can you ping your own IP ?
What is your mask ?

I can ping anything on the network. I can send/receive email, browse the internet etc. My computer can not be pinged or accessed by anything else on the network.

With all of the above information, it sure seems like a firewall issue. Norton's firewall disabled, XP's firewall disabled, is there any chance you've got some other firewall software running - Zonealarm, Tiny, McAfee, or other?

I have uninstalled Norton's firewall. XP's built in firewall is greyed out I cant select or deselect it at all.
There are no other firewalls installed.

This isn't right. Do you have Internet Connection Sharing enabled?
