Picking a file to import via "Get External Data"

I am using Access 2003 and once a month, we need to import a file. The file could be named anything and stored anywhere. Rather than try to force the file to be in the proper directory n such, I'd rather open an "Import" dialog window to pick the file - just as you'd do if you were doing it manually (File, Get External Data, Import).

Thoughts?

TIA

First thing I would do is scan the help file and see in A2003 doesn't have a method to perform a file browse.

If that doesn't yield any results, you can always use the API GetOpenFileName which presents the standard file selection dialog boxes for the user to select a specific file.

Good Luck

ok - thank you. I had searched, but not for Filebrowe - tho I suspect that its an API call - in which I thank you for the nudge.

In access 2003 take a look at FileDialog in either the object browser or the VBA help file.

Hope This Helps, PH.
