Phones ringing to switchboard. 2

What causes the phone going to switchboard once we dial 9 to get out? It doesn't do it all the time but only sometimes. We are a hospital facility that has 24 trunk lines and 16 DID lines. I also would like to know what the TKID command is in the programming.
Thanks,
Uttommy

There is an ATB (all trunks busy) key on some 2250's that, when pressed, makes all outgoing calls go through the attendant phone.

Check the attendant phone for any keys that are active.

TKID (Trunk ID) is a free form record keeping field. You can enter anything, but most of the time you would put the phone number of the trunk.

Phones will go to the switchboard if your "Intercept" data (LD21 REQ PRT TYPE INT) is set to ring the console when all trunks are busy.

The other reason is if the Console has inadvertently pressed the Trunk Group Busy key (very far left row of buttons)

Could it be from all the trunk getting full and then all calls go to the switchboard? I went and checked the consoles and they appear ok.

here is what it prints out as.

Nothing looks wrong to me, but I can tell you how to disable the Console's ability to press the Trunk Group Busy buttons - which I bet will solve the problem.

(then hit return until the REQ prompt comes again)

As a matter of course, every system I've managed - I set XTG. It means "Exclude Trunk Group Busy capability"

This will take care of all three consoles, correct?
Thanks,
Uttommy

Thanks for everyone's help I will repost later on next week to see if this helps my problem.

Thanks,
Uttommy

I am still having problems with this. It doesn't happen all the time but it is still happening. Any other ideas out there? Also the switchboard is now telling me that when they page overhead their light doesn't come on the console.

I bet you have a bunch of phones with CLS XFD

Either change those to XFA or XFR if you do not want them to be able to transfer. Or at least see if it is happening to those phones more than anyone else.

As for Paging not lighting the console... Can they page at all? How is the POage button programmed? If it's an ADL Key, then it will not light - never does. Also, ADL keys can be changed by accident.

The problems are hospital wide on the calls going back to the switchboard. When we hit "9" to get out and dial the number we are actually on our provider at this point and they don't seem to think that it is on their end but I think it may be. As far as the paging goes they can still page but the light on the console to let them know they are on it is not on any of the three consoles that we have. The way they are programmed is they are in route 4 and the ACOD-56 are the routes and I am new at this and I am not sure how to look these up.
thanks,
Uttommy

OK, the light never was on...didn't used to work, does not work. Common problem with Operators: "It used to work". If they are forgetting to disconnect from Paging, set the Route Data Block TIMR TFD to 60 and it will disconnect them automatically.

As for how the button is programmed on the console

As for the other issue, If you are on the provider right at "9", then your do not use BARS. That would also mean "9" is an ACCD.

Good. The Console KEY 4 (ADL 56) never lit up. However, before you changed to XTG, the 5th key up on the far far left side of the console did light up. Do not change it back. Just add the TIMR TFD 60 to the Paging Route.

Next: When you dial "9" - you are _not_ on the carriers facilities. The dial tone you hear after 9 is being produced by your PBX.

Print out someones phone who seems to have this problem a lot - where they get the Console after 9

So, it has happened to to other people, but not you? I think what you're going to need to do is just that - experience this yourself. I suspect it isn't happening the way you've been told at all. Users often tell you what they wanted to do, but not always what they really did. I wouldn't doubt if they are just hitting 0 instead of 9.

You wouldn't happen to be in the UK or some other country where you have to dial 0 prior to making a long-distance call? If you are, and you users need to dial 9 0 XXXXXXX to place the call, then chances are high that it's simple user error.

No I have witnessed this first hand as well. I dial 9 then the local number or any number and it immediately would ring to the switchboard. As much as I would like to say user error it is not. The thing is we have done nothing in the programming it just started doing this recently when we were having problems dialing some local numbers and we give those numbers to the phone company and the next thing we know we are this problem with numbers going to the switchboard.

Thanks,
Tommy
