Hello all. I have a G3R V7 and a G3si V7. I've been tasked to find out how many assigned extensions we have that are not being used (our subscribers love to leave and not tell us). I have been going through my displayed alarm list and testing all the analog stations that I find there. Which ever ones give me a 48 fail code, I treat as not having terminating equipment (a physical phone) connected. These extensions I remove. Is there another way to determine the frequency which a particular extension is used? Can the software tell me that ext 4567 was last used on 12-09-01?

CDR or call detailed recording software is your best bet.

The switch could output this information on an ongoing basis and you can then back track the extension usage of each set on your system via extension detail reports.

Remember, you can also use this software to bill back each department or extension for the long distance charges incurred and help lower your telco costs within your own department.

I would think someone within the company should be able to give you a list of who is and is not there. Either the human resources dept or payroll should have an accurate list. Just testing to see if a set is there really isn't going to tell you much. Of course if the set is not there where did it go. Are they using there own sets and take them home when the leave?

Well, we're supporting a deployed military camp and it's not as stuctured a setup as a big office building/corporate job. People leave all the time, and phones just dissapear and no one really cares. It's a big fraud/waste/abuse heaven out here. They're trying to be more strict though....

Don't have any documentation here at home, but I think the list measurements principal command tracks station usage.
