Hi Guys, Bathe me in your superior knowledge.I have an IP500V2 with 6.0.8 running 2X1416 & 4X1408 phones.I am using a Combi card for the BRI lines DS extensions & a fax + doorphone.User is 4.2.31 & all but one phone managers work properly. On the PC where phone manager does not work I have reinstalled it a number of times & deleted the profiles as well. I have also used the Avaya port opening tool to open relevant ports. The thing is if you connect using the Admin program then open phone manager it works fine.If you close the Admin program it stops working. This PC has been rebuilt recently & customer is unwilling to do another rebuild.Firewall is off & virus protection disabled.I know this is something stupid so put me out of my misery please.

Nice to see you back under your proper title hairlesssupportmonkey../ Hi Tom= OK trying to start phone manager it does not see IP500 & cannot see it on the network from the LogIn. Call status does not work either. When the Admin is open & we try to open system status we just get nothing. But when the Admin program is open & connected, Phone Manager is seeing the IP500 & can be logged in so all working. How is the Admin program opening the required access to the network to allow the Phone Mgr to work.

Admin doesn't hold a connection to the system, it just downloads a copy of the config rather than holding a live session to it, so I'm not sure why that's the deciding factor in getting it working. The fact the software works on all other PC's definatley narrows the issue down to that particular PC. Does that PC have a valid default gateway or address for the network, does the system have a valid route to the network that PC is sat on? :-)

Your network is blocking tftp traffic.
Tftp uses port 69.

Use wireshark to see what happens.

DOH!!! Thanks everyone sometimes I need to go to site. Customer had changed his Network Switch & LAN IP addresses but not told me.Why only 1 Phone Mgr stopped working beats me. Customer builds his own PCs but did not realise I could change the IP address of IP500.Changed LAN 1 to be on the same level as his new LAN all now working.Sorry for time wasting & thanks for all your help.Stars All Round

Wow! it's like it's raining stars. and i didn't even do anything. cheers, glad it's sorted. :-)

Let me guess though, you asked him what had changed, and he said nothing at first, right?

I guess they did Tom :-)
Like always nothing changed.
But when nothing has changed then every thing still should work :-)

Tom "ITS THE WAY YOU TELL THEM" Yes Customer said nothing had changed & it had to be the Avaya or the guy who put it in.
Why do they always blame us?
And when you prove it is not us they do not even say thanks
Remember the old days 9 for an outside line & 0 for reception.
Where did it all go wrong.
