OK lets get this out of the way first. I do not want an answer of a networking problem on this. I have a new IP500 running the newest version of IP Manager. I have phone mananger 4.2.25. It does not matter what operating system what firewall etc, when I try to connect to phone manager it tells me unable to connect. I was able to connect each machine one time for just under 2 minutes, then they never worked again. I do not have any problems with the phones they work like a champ. This is a 1000 base network with a brand new cisco POE switch. There are no loops everything is using cat 6 cable. When discovering the IP500 it finds that just fine all the time from any machine, I do not get this message until I try to click on the user list. This is not a DNS issue the email notification is working fine. I have exchange 2007, Windows server 2008, and XP, Vista, Windows 7 machines they all work with everything else except for the phone manager lite/pro software. Does anyone have anything they think might be relevent to add other than a networking issue? Thanks BTW my IP office manager workstation is Windows 7 and with some work I was able to make it work just fine even though it is not supported. System Status is the only thing that does not work from this PC.

Unfortunately as the Phone Manager is a piece of software that is not configrable for connection other than what IP address it is looking for and it does this across the network I am not sure what answer you want, bear in mind the discovery and connection to retrieve the user list is totally different ports, the only way to 100% rule out the network is to bypass/shutdown any firewall and go straight to the IP office. Unless the reason you don't want to be told it's the network is because you have already done this, I would add that 9 out of 10 things like this is just that :)

Don't limit what answers you will accept...

You've eliminated the OS. have you tried turning the firewall (assuming you are using a software firewall).

Have you tried plugging the PC direct into the phone system? Can you reliably ping the IP office? What other software do you have running on the pc?

Have you done any changes to the security settings on the IP office.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

That is my point. This should be a simple process there has to be some setting that phone manager is looking at other than just the IP. I have turned the firewall off on these pc's. I have tried every current operatin system. What I am getting at is the network is sound the phones work 100% of the time all the time. The phones and pc are plugged into the same swith. This is the reason I do not want to hear networking issues. If it were a network issue I would be having other network problems. So it must be some setting in the IP500 unit not a networking issue with my current network. I will accept config issues as a problem but my netowrk is solid and sound. We have no issued with collission or any other latency problem. I can always connect to the manager software just fine. The phone manager is the only one with issues. So it has to be some setting not a network issue.

By the way I have never not been able to ping this ip address from any pc. It just does not link up with phone manager software. Like I said no network issues with anything at all but this piece of software. I cannot be the only person that has had this issue.....

Turn on debug in phonemanager and review traps.

OR you could go into config and untick system/telephony/not network problem

OK I am getting somewhere now. If I delete the files under my documents that is creates to store all your user setting. I am able to get in just fine for 2 minutes. Then it automatically logs me off and will not let me log in again until I delete the files? Any ideas?

Perhaps tftp blocked (port 69) ?
Working phones does say nothing about a network !

Add -debug to the end of target line in shortcut.

"C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Phone Manager\PhoneManager.exe" -debug

I do want to thank you guys for the help. Also I want to make it clear that right now to try to get these pc to work I have all anti virus, firewalls, anti spyware software, all of these things are turned OFF. That is why I am not so sure it is a networking issue as it is with a configuration issue with the IP Office.

Well?

By the way I forgot to mention the the manager pc that is used for the IP 500 it works and stays connected with phone manager just fine. It is every other pc in the building a total of 15 that does not work. They are all plugged into the same switch. That is why I am having so much trouble with it being a network issue. The best part about it is that this PC is Windows 7 and not supported and it is working just fine. Thanks for the help

Check the VLAN's it the manager pc connected to a different VLAN?

You might need to use the LAN2 ip address.

I only have the Lan1 plugged in. The lan2 is not plugged in at all. I am not using DHCP server on the IP500 I have a cisco router and a DNS, DHCP, IIS server windows 2008. Do I need to be using the Lan2 port?

Do you have VLAN's??

No VLAN's at all. I am just using this thing more as a digital phone than an IP. I have it configured in a private network. Very simple as far as the configuration goes.

Try a static ip address on the user pc without a gateway address.

That is what I am getting that is causing me not to get logged in. When I said network issue at first I meant latency. I am able to ping just fine. The firewall is off and no virus protection turned on theis pc with the debug.
