I am using a special purpose toner and developer. Standard toners won't work for this application. I understand the Xerox warrantee does not cover damage due to nonXerox consumables.
I understand why Xerox wants to limit their liabilities by reducing their warrantee in situations like this, but I don't understand their unwillingness to acknowledge that their toners cannot cover every possible application.
It would be best to use clean unused cartridges, however, unlike some other printer manufacturers, Xerox won't release any. Unfortunately, the other machines either do not work with this toner or they haven't yet been evaluated with it. Therefore, I must rely on using recycled Xerox cartridges.

With all that said I hope you will cover the service calls your customer's may need if these recycled/refilled toner cartridges fail and or cause damage to the printers. I have service many Tektronix /Xerox printers that have failed due to the use of 3rd party consumables. Unfortunately not many resellers will back their products in such a way and ultimately the customer is left footing the bill for the repair / clean up. This is not to mention the compatability problems that incurr when the use of aftermarket toners are used with the developer assys of the 7700s and 7750s. The developer in the assy of these printers is supposed to last the life of the machine but when 3rd party consumables are mixed the developers will failue. These parts are in excess of $600 each plus a few hours labor to replace.

Can we please shift our paradigms a bit here. Sure, it is safest and easiest to buy everything from one vendor who has done all the compatibility testing for you. But, that does NOT mean that nothing else could be compatible. Nor does it mean that that vendor has a solution for all applications.
I would prefer to purchase new empty cartridges, but Xerox doesn't care enough about their customers with special needs, so I am forced to use recycled cartridges.
I could go on for pages about how a company should be truly interested in their customer's satisfaction by helping them with alternative solutions for unique applications, but for now, I just want to obtain some empty cartridges so I can work on my customer's satifaction.

My apologies as I misunderstood your intentions. With that said I do not agree with the idea that only the manufacturer has the compatability issues resolved. My statement was related to people, manufactures or resellers who do not care about these issues and just refill and sell for the almighty dollar and have not quality control over their products. What are your special needs, and what alternative solution or unique applications are you looking at? I do have some contacts that I may be able to talk to at the home office that may be willing to help.

I will be using a toner with pigments that can withstand a higher temperature than standard toners. Since there is also pigment in the developer, I also need empty imaging unit cartridges.
Short term, I need one complete set, but as there are four different sets of these special toners for slightly different applications and I am sure cartridges wear out, I will need more later.

The imaging cartridges are no more than an imaging drum which teh laser writes on, there is no toner associated with them. The developer assy however have the developer and carrier beads, so by the sounds of it you would want the developer assys and toner cartridges. The developer assy are not an easy change out, they are not a customer replaceable consumable. They were designed as a life of the printer assy and even with considerable knowledge to replace all 4 would be a good 4 hour job.

The developer is not consumable and does not come with the imagining units. The developer housing assy does not come with developer, you have to order the developer separately for each assy. I agree with marty5261, the job of changing those developers out is about 1 hour each.

The developer / developer beads are one in the same. They go in the developer housing assy. They should last the life of the printer. All they do is transport the toner and set the density. If you are using custiom toner you might need to hae them replaced.
