We are running an pure NT 4.0 domain with Outlook 98 clients connecting to an Exchange 5.5 server. The users have their PAB stored on the root of their main network drive (set up in their account as Home Directory).

One user's mailbox.pab file keeps disappearing, about every month. No other users have complained about this. Has anyone seen this problem before, and knows of a solution?

I am having the same problem with no answer.

Well, we've upgraded all our machines to Office XP (with Outlook 2002), which no longer uses personal address books for Exchange mailboxes. It uses the Contacts folder of the mailbox, which is a lot more stable. Since the upgrade, this problem has gone away.

Sorry no one's found a solution yet, atingle.

The only time I have seem this occur is when I found a virus on the clients machine and wasn't even aware that the machine was infected.

Apart from that I don't see instaces of the PAB disappearing on its own.

And XP still does use Personal Address Book. Using Contacts instead with the Outlook Address Book is just an option. joegz
