Hello All

I have an Access2000 database on my Windows 2000 Server. I need to give all the users modify permissions to a folder but i dont want them to have modify permissions on the files in the folder. My understanding is if i choose not to inherit from parent that the files will not get the modify permissions. But if i add more files to that folder they automatically inherit the permissions so i would have to go back to each file and change it. I do not have the much time. We are talking a 100's of files added daily.

I was just wondering if i am missing something or if there was a login script that would do this or even a program that i could buy?

Thanks All

If you want your users to be able to add files but not modify them, give your users write rights but not modify.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Unfortunately, write is not enough, users need to be able to delete the lock file which is created every time the access database file is opened….So users need at least

Modify at the folder level and read/write/execute at the file level.
