Hello!!!

We are feeling a little frustrated at this point... :) Does anyone know how to change the permission so that a recipient cannot remove other recipients from a distriubtion list via their email???

Thanks to any help...

they shouldn't have that right in the first place. you need to check the permission sets on your containers...

Each recipient has the permission level of a user and they should not be able to remove a recipient from the distribution list however, they are able to. Any suggestions on to resolve this? We are using Exchange 5.5 - thanks!

From Exchange Server, open up the Distribution list in question. On the General tab you will see "Display Name", "Alias" name, and then "Owner". You need to take this person out of the owner field. Once they are removed from the "owner" field they will not longer have ownership permissions to the distribution list.

We have not and never assigned someone to the "owner" field ...Any more suggestions??

Thanks!

Did you check this Distribution list properties in Exchange server to see who the "owner" of the distribution list is? Check this field. Obviously if this person can modify members she would need to be setup as the owner of the distribution list. If she has owner rights to the mailbox she would be able to add/remove members directly from her outlook. Unless she is part of the Administrators Group or Exchange Administrators group.

Also check the PERMISSIONS tab on the DL. It may not have an "Owner" but can have multiple people on the permissions tab.

I don't think there is a permissions tab. He needs to open his Exchange Administrator program, locate the distribution list, from the properties on the General tab, check the owner. The owner of this distribution list by default is left blank so only an Exchange Administrator can add/remove members for the DL but you can change this so a user can manage a DL.

open the exchange admin program. go to tools options advanced and verify that show permissions page for all objects is checked. find the container that holds the DL that you have in question and make sure the users listed on the page are correct.

As Bob says, all DLs have PERMISSIONS tabs, but if you have not changed the default OPTIONS in Exchange Admin you won't see that tab.
