I Have a folder on my resource server that I only want a certain group of users to access, and I have added them to the top level folder with full control and propagated to all child folders, but still, whenever they log on, it says they can only view permissions, and all the check boxes are grayed out. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

did you set share permissions as well as directory permissions?

sorry, clicked submit too soon...also,

Is this folder underneath any other folders? Or is it right off the root of the drive? Is it inheriting permissions from something above it?

As far as it being under another folder, it is but I unchecked the inherit permissions box, but to no avail, and i'll check the share permission right now.

You were right. I checked the share permission, gave them control, and that worked. Once again I made something easy hard . Thanks!

Once again, bronto to the rescue. My boss does't understand why we have to do this, and I've explained it several times. (Old novel 4.0 pro.) I finally sat him down at the server, set a pc up next to it. Looked on the network, and a folder we were looking at wasn't on the network. I told boss, click share, and leave it with everyone selected. He had already unchecked inheritables in security, and added admin and the two users, but the folder wasn't showing up. As soon as he did, I hit the F5 button on the workstation and MAGICALLY the folder showed up. Boss hasn't asked me again.
