I am in the process of copying files from one folder to another. How would I go about doing this without the files retaining their original permissions. I would like the files to inherit the permissions of the new folder. I already have the new folder set up to replace permissions on all child objects, but the original file permissions are still retained. We never ran into this problem before we upgraded from a mixed NT/2000 domain to an Active Directory 2003 Domain. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the quick response. I am somewhat familiar with the xcopy command, but the problem that my users have is that when they use Windows Explorer to copy a file from one folder to another, the file they are copying is retaining its original permissions, and not inheriting the new permissions. I dont recall this ever being a problem when we were a mixed NT/2000 Domain. Below is one of the articles that I found on Microsoft website regarding this issue. One of their recommendations is using a vbscript to automate this process but I am not very familiar with windows scripting. If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark
