perl search with images

Hi i wish to create a search engine in perl for to search images these images will have a lot of keywords and i know that each images .jpeg or gif has inside .gi or .jpeg keywords and i wish to know if perl can get these keywords and save in a file and then i could add price to these images and size and resolution. fro example check

i want to do this like that site but with more options.

I know how to get the image width and height out of a .gif or .jpeg file, but don't know how to parse out the keywords. Anyone got an idea?
