I like to know if there is a way to perform record locking without the use of SESSION variables. Also, need to be able to release the lock when the client is finished with the record, leaves it sit too long or closes their browser while looking at the record.

Thanks.

A simple way to do it is to insert a ID and a datestamp in a table to identify your user and the process he is using, every move he make must update your time stamp.

Then create a scheduled event that verify timestamp and clean row where time diff is over 15min or the time you desire the data stay locked.

Until this time stamp exist in your table, verify the requested data for every other users...

hope that help, sorry for my bad english
