Performance In Views !

Hi all from France !!! (sql7-2000)
i would like to know is that's a good way to use views for a simple question of performance !
i know that views can help for access security, masking of security....but what about performance !!!???????
what's the good reason to use views instead of stored procedures !???

I think views don't have their execution plan cached unlike stored procedures.

Views are nice and simple ways of viewing AND updating data.
You need to write a select stored procedure and an update stored procedure, but is probably more efficient.

Generally, using views will not impact performance - if the views are well designed. Obviously, any poorly designed query whether it be submitted from the client, in a view or in a stored procedure will perform poorly. Terry
