So were going to upgrade our exchange server to 2003 and Exch2003. Were going to buy a new beefier server to run it on... Does anyone know which will give better performance?

Dual Processor 3.0ghz Xeon's with 12g ram
or
Quad Processor 1.5ghz Xeon's with 4g ram

Personally, I'd like to have the Quad with 12g but thats a little out of our price range...

From what I understand, Exchange is memory intensive.

First one.
Memory is the to priority.

How big is your exchange?

I would't rush for exchange 2003 until SP2 will be out (except in a small shop)

We have about 250 mailboxes, I bak up about 709,000 messages a night on a full backup....

We decided to purchase a Dell PE4600 w/ 3.0XeonP4 Dual Processors w/ 12G DDR Ram (ECC) and 4 73G drives in a R5 stripe..

Thanks for everyones suggestions...
