Pending Upgrade from MV 1.2 to S8700 1

I'm getting ready to have my org's G3si w/ MV 1.2 SCC PPN & one SCC EPN upgraded to S8700 ACM 2.0 w/ dual processor.

My question is that I have one vendor, (Cross) telling me that my current PPN will not work w/ the S8700 and has quoted a MCC. Yet Avaya's quote allows me to keep the PPN and has quoted an additional SCC.

What is the deal w/ Cross? Anyone have any insight as to why Cross feels that my PPN is not compatible w/ the S8700 config?

Typically the PPN becomes just a dumb port network supported via an IPSI card after an 8700 migration. No idea why they want you to trash it.

The carrier that holds the processor has to be replaced, the slots are different for the system cards due to the IPSI. So if you mean PPN as your full stack of SCC carries, then that is incorrect that you can't keep them. But you do have to replace the A carrier..

We upgraded to the S8700 last April. Our PPN, had a new shelf and IPSI cards installed. It is now an EPN, but still acts as our connection to our 3 other EPNs, through fiber and DS1C connections. The dual processors are now 2 servers running Linux, which handle the call processing duties.

There is another thing though, AVAYA is no longer selling new SCC carriers anymore, you must go MCC or G650 carriers. You can however keep on buying SCC's if its for upgrade purposes (I believe thats the rule)..

So this pretty much affects greenfield opportunities..
