In device manager in system devices the PCI Bus says that irq steering is disabled. Also in system information/problem devices it says IRQ holder for PCI steering---Error 10.
I tried removing the device but the PC locked up each time.Tried updating the driver but got told it was already using the best one
Any help would be appreciated

Under IRQ Steering is this checked, and if so are all of them checked?

All checked except"Get IRQ table from protected mode PCIBIOS 2.1 call
by the way---running on ME

If you're having no problems, don't worry about it. Another This behavior is by design feature.

"ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering" Problem Device Entry in System Information Tool

------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

------------------------------------------------------------
If this article does not describe your hardware-related issue, please see the following Microsoft Web site to view more articles about hardware:

SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft System Information tool (Msinfo32.exe) to view problem devices in your computer, entries for "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering" may be listed. This may occur even if IRQ steering is working correctly. The entries may look like:

ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000003 22
ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000005 22
ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000006 22
ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000007 22
ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000008 22
These entries represent ACPI Holder for IRQ Steering data structures that did not start (error code 22).

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you change hardware in your computer and the IRQ holder is no longer required. IRQ holders for PCI steering are listed with error code 22 when they are not in use. Although IRQ holders for PCI steering that are not in use are not displayed in Device Manager, the System Information tool displays them.

STATUS
This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

If you want you, can leave check use IRQ Steering then uncheck every box except "Get IRQ table using MS Specification table." This will force your OS to use the MS steering table and not the others.
Why? windows 98 likes this setting,my system is more stable.enjoy

I don`t think it`s giving me a problem---I just don`t like to see any errors.
Thanx for allthe replies
