Hi
When my PC goes through the boot up sequence, i will at some stage of bootup get a message saying NO SIGNAL and the PC will start to reboot this can happen at any stage of the bootup sequence even has far has hearing the windows startup music. I have done a reformat, had a different graphics card and cable and my CPU is not getting hot.
yours hopefully Steve

Before or after the Windows splash appers, it seems its a HW problem if its before the splash screen. The no signal message is usually the monitor saying that the computer is not sending any video, which is cause by the reboot

It can happen at any stage of the bootup, not sure what you mean by the splash screen.

Where it has Windows XP with the blue status bar, thats the splash screen

Did you recently change the motherboard in this system?

Remotely possible it's the PSU, more likely a memory issue. Unless as electronicsfreak has suggest, you've changed the mobo...

I'd run something like MEMTEST86 which you can get free from here:-

If that's ok, try substituting the PSU for a known good one of the same or higher wattage rating.

Could be a motherboard failing or a disk in need to some tlc...
I would suggest booting the PC from your windows XP CD, choose 'Repair using the console' you will then be presented with a black screen where you can type. (if it asks for admin pswd etc please enter)
type in chkdsk /p /r and press enter. It will then check your hard drive for file and physical errors and repair them. Reformatting a hard drive and reinstalling the OS will not repair any damage to the disk and could cause your PC to be unstable and not boot.

Let me how you get on.

Same motherboard, same memory, i have had for last 2 years, i have also downloaded memtest86.
Thanks for all your feedback, will try all these options and get back to you after the weekend.
Once again Thanks Steve
