Is there anyway to hook up my computer to my surround sound system. my system is 7.1 and my sound card only has 4.1 capabilities, but I don't know if they matters.

You could try the line out to your stereo receiver. Or get a convertor from stereo headphone jack (the jack that plugs into your computer's audio) to RCA (assuming your stereo system uses it) and then do it that way. You could hook it up as the second or third input devices (possibly called Video 2 or DVD, or you could try CD if you don't use a CD player with it. Good luck.

If it has either optical or coxial digital out, that would be the best to use. Otherwise analog with the headphone jack to rca output adapter will do. It's not likely it will work as a true surround setup, you'll need to use dolby prologic mode for it to work with more than just the mains.
