I would like to know if anyone found a easy way to 'shadow' someone else's PC.

I would like to take control of another PC's mouse and use their computer as if it were mine. I think this can be done in netmeeting but not sure.

I am the administrator on all computers and have administrator rights.

abbottboi,

I think what you are looking for is "remote desktop"

See the links to determine if this is in fact what you are attempting to do:

Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection Client

Remote Desktop Overview

Hope This is What You Need

Nope, not remote desktop.

What i want to do is be able to show someone how to do something on their computer without having to go to it in person.

To take control of it with the 'real' user sitting there while i show them.

any ideas?

abbottboi,

Did yo even pay any attention to the links??

copied from the second MS link:
Terminal Services technology is also used for Remote Assistance, which allows you to invite a technical expert to connect to your computer and view your desktop. In addition, the technical expert can take control of your computer (with your permission)
I would say that this is
To take control of it with the 'real' user sitting there while i show them

try using dameware mini remote control if you really don't want to use remote desktop from mickysoft.Good tool , but it ain't free...I find it to be better then VNC.

Hi,

yes I do pay attention to the links! Remote Desktop is a great tool but it doesn't solve my problem. I can take control of the other computer sure, the windows 'locks' the computer and the user can see what i'm doing. This is great for doing a quick fix or grabbing a file on the go but i want to use it for training.. like 'this is how you do it'

any more thoughts?

thanks

Here's another one you might want to try:

I've only ever been on the receiving end of it, but one of our vendors was able to control my PC from another site with it. I could also type and use the mouse at the same time as the person on the other end of the phone.

If Both of you Use messenger you can use the Remote Assitance, feature from it. In which you can Use the computer and the user will be able to see what you are doing. Go to Start->Help, and look for [red]Remote Assistance[red] it does exactly what you want. The User will be able to see what you are doing. While you do it. Best of all its free. And is included with every version of Windows XP.
